Learn the basics and next steps for your Mahjong journey with a 1½-hour Mahj 101 Mini-Lesson (a $37 value) in a fun, social small-group setting.

💜 Player Levels Explained
New Player (“Mahj 101”)
For those brand new to Mahjong — you’ll learn the basics, including tile names, how to read the NMJL card, and how to begin forming hands.
Experienced Player
For players who can set up, play, and call Mahj independently without guidance.
In-Between Players (“Developing Confidence”)
If you’ve played before but still need occasional reminders or support, please register as an Experienced Player and note this in your seating request at checkout.
We’ll do our best to seat you with others at a similar level.
If you’d prefer more structured coaching, you may wish to take a Mahj 102 or Mahj 201 lesson first.
Our goal is always to match you with the right table for your comfort and enjoyment!

Check-In & Mingling: 6:00 – 6:30 PM
Event: 6:30 – 8:30 PM
• New Players: Mahj 101 Mini-Lesson (6:45–8:15 PM)
• Experienced Players: Open Play on designer Mahjong sets
Raffle Drawing: 8:15 PM — must be present to win
📍 Location & Parking
Guapo’s Restaurant
8130 Wisconsin Avenue, Downtown Bethesda
Ample parking is available in the public garage, located directly across the street from the back entrance on Woodmont Ave. (via the American Inn).
🍴 Food & Drink
Your ticket includes a selection of shared heavy appetizers prepared by Guapo’s, served during the event.
Guapo’s full dinner and bar menu will also be available for purchase, including a variety of $6 mocktails.
Please note that Guapo’s is not a kosher restaurant, and menu substitutions are limited to what is available in-house. If you have dietary restrictions, feel free to email Jennifer@MahjOverMatter.com in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Buying multiple tickets? Please include your guests’ names in the Guest Information field so we can properly greet everyone upon arrival.
📋 Refunds & Policies
All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend — just email Jennifer@MahjOverMatter.com with their name so we can update our list.
Events start promptly, so please arrive during the check-in window to ensure seating.
In the rare case of event cancellation, all ticket holders will receive a full refund.
